Paramount+ has yet to announce a season 5 renewal for Mayor of Kingstown, but the series hasn't been canceled either. A decision is still pending, and the streamer has plenty of time to weigh its options, leaving the door open for Mike's story to continue.
Co-creators Sheridan and Dillon have said they're not short on ideas and have a long-term vision for the show. In fact, Dillon previously revealed that Sheridan already knows exactly how Mayor of Kingstown ends, and it's mapped out all the way to season 7.
"Whether it goes that far or that's where we get [who knows], but he has an ending and everyone knows about it," Dillon told Screen Rant. "And when you talk to him, he will tell you in detail. So, our goal is to get to that season 7, because that's as far as we can get, because that's where he's always had it. 15 years ago, he had it. 15 years ago, 'So, here's how it's starting, Mitch is going to get killed off in the first 10 pages, and season 7, episode 10, this is where Mike's going to be.' I'm like, 'Holy f---, I'm in. Okay.'"
That said, the final call is up to Paramount+. The good news is that season 4 has been a hit with critics and audiences alike, earning strong scores of Rotten Tomatoes and numerous positive reactions.
The platform is likely keeping an eye on that, but in the end, the decision will probably come down to viewership and how consistently people tuned in.

Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky on 'Mayor of Kingstown'
Meanwhile, after surviving an ambush, Kyle finally confronts Callahan (Richard Brake), the man who killed his wife Tracy (Nishi Munshi).
The two come face-to-face at the end of the episode, during which Callahan taunts Kyle over his wife's murder. Kyle manages to ignore the comments and shoots Callahan multiple times before collapsing into Mike's arms and bursting into tears.
"The beautiful end of it all is at least they [Mike and Kyle] have each other," Renner told Entertainment Weekly about the emotional moment between the brothers. "That was something I really had to fight for [at] the end of this show. It was very, very, very important to at least give the audience that. Give them something good."
He added, "The beautiful part for us is the release of that toxic character and then the two brothers falling into each other — and at least they have each other through it all. So that's some kind of hope, right?"

Lennie James as Frank Moses and Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky on 'Mayor of Kingstown'
The cast of Mayor of Kingstown has grown since its first season, and it's likely to expand even more in future installments.
