Instead, presenters Melissa McCarthy and Kathryn Hahn accepted the trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television on her behalf.

Williams is currently starring in the stage production of Eugene O'Neill's *Anna Christie* at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to the venue's website. Also starring Tom Sturridge and Mare Winningham, the show is scheduled to run through Feb. 1.

In *Dying for Sex, *Williams brought to life the true story of cancer survivor Molly Kochan, who, after discovering that her cancer has returned and is terminal, leaves her husband to live her best sexual life.

In August, she told EW's The Awardist that listening to the podcast that Kochan hosted before she died in 2019 "absolutely gut-punched me. I couldn't stop crying, the way that she chose to take her last breaths, and what was on her mind, what was on her heart, and the... I don't mean to cry, but how she went out was, she lived, and it got me bad. It got me."

*Dying for Sex* is available to stream on Hulu.**
