Michael Che would never pass up the opportunity to humiliate his pal Colin Jost with their yearly *Saturday Night Live* Christmas joke swap. If Jost didn't know that before, he certainly does now.
The biannual "Weekend Update" tradition — in which Jost and Che are forced to cold-read offensive jokes they've written for each other — went forth with a little twist this holiday season. Che lied to his costar, convincing Jost that they would be skipping the segment this Christmas. So when it came time to pull out those frightening cue cards, Jost looked completely caught off guard.
"Tonight is our Christmas show, and we have a tradition," Che began in the Dec. 20 episode. "Colin [and I] give each other jokes to read that neither of us have ever seen before."
Suspiciously looking around, Jost replied, "That's interesting because you specifically said that we were not doing it this year. You *know* that I didn't write any jokes for you."
"Oh, did I?" Che asked innocently. "Well, I guess you'll just have to read mine."
Honoring tradition, Che's most memorable joke of the night centered around Jost's wife, Scarlett Johansson.
"New research shows that millions of women leave the workforce due to menopause… which means there's only a couple years left on my gravy train," Jost read, grimacing as a photo of Johansson flashed on the screen. "My girl already be like, 'Colin, I'm warm. Colin, I'm sweating.' Bitch, you having a hot flash!"
But it got worse. The joke took a raunchy turn as Jost was forced to read his final few lines: "Don't worry about me, I got a backup," he told the crowd. "They don't call Wednesday hump day for nothing."
As he finished, a photo of Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams from *Wednesday* appeared on screen, leaving a stunned Jost staring around in disbelief, laughing through his shock.

Che, holding back his own laughter, quipped, "Wow, Colin, I wouldn't have done that one."
Still in disbelief, Jost replied, "Wednesday?!"
Elsewhere in the segment, Jost struggled to read his cue cards, wary of the offensive punchlines ahead.
"Critics say a new series of coins from the U.S. Mint celebrating great moments in the country's history ignore civil rights," Jost began nervously at one point. "But what about the coin that celebrates where Black people actually come from — ships?"
While Jost struggled to get out his lines, Che said cheekily, "You should've wrote some jokes for me to tell."

Jost and Johansson have been together since 2017 and got married three years later. The Marvel alum — who is the show's most frequent female host, with a whopping seven episodes under her belt — has since become consistent fodder for *SNL* jokes, especially on "Weekend Update."

Earlier this year, Jost and Johansson teamed up for payback during the May rendition of the joke swap segment. In it, Che was forced to read lines in which he apologized to Johansson for his "tasteless jokes."
Per the Jost-penned cue cards, Che continued, "The fact is, I was just lashing out because I'm jealous. I've never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said 'human,' because I once spent the summer on a farm. You feel me? Maybe I'm just embarrassed about my own body — I can't even take my hoodie off during sex because I have more nipples than a pregnant dog."**
*Saturday Night Live* season 51 will continue with new episodes on Jan. 17, 2026, with host Finn Wolfhard and musical guest A$AP Rocky.
