When Kathy Hilton throws a holiday party, it’s less about chasing trends and more about creating a feeling — one that’s warm, welcoming and just a little magical. This year’s star-studded gathering, held earlier this month, blended vintage charm, family tradition and an unexpectedly relatable menu, all curated with the kind of thoughtful detail Hilton is known for.
“The theme all over of the party is always something different except one room,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 66, told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. That room, her office, is the sentimental heart of the house, decorated the same way every year with layers of personal history. Baby shoes, childhood keepsakes, stuffed animals, glass ornaments and vintage Annalee dolls fill a tree so packed with memories “you might not see it because the tree is so full,” she said. Elves and pixies perch throughout the space, giving it a whimsical, almost storybook feel.

A big part of Hilton’s holiday magic comes from her hands-on approach. She makes her own decorative wreaths for fun, often sourcing vintage flowers from old hat shops in London, bead stores and flea markets. “I collect knick-knacks. I’m a collector,” she shared, explaining that creativity doesn’t stop with Christmas — many of her handmade pieces are kept visible in her home year-round.
Of course, no Kathy Hilton party is complete without an unforgettable dinner menu — and this year’s lineup was a collaboration that felt both indulgent and entirely on brand. Hilton partnered with longtime favorite The Cheesecake Factory to create a curated holiday spread, working alongside the brand’s culinary team and her personal chef.
The result was a mix of elevated comfort food and crowd-pleasing classics. The Famous Factory Meatloaf — one of Hilton’s personal favorites — anchored the menu, joined by dishes like Chicken Madeira, Cajun Salmon, Honey Roasted Carrots and the Chinese Chicken Salad. Appetizers included Crispy Rice Cakes with Crab, “Mini” Ahi Poke Nachos, Stuffed Mushrooms and a breakout hit: the restaurant's new Baked Brie with Truffle-Honey Butter.

“And I surprised my husband [Rick] with cheesecakes,” Hilton said with a laugh. Guests enjoyed an indulgent spread, including Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake, Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Key Lime Cheesecake and Cookie Dough Lover’s Cheesecake with Pecans. As Hilton put it, “No holiday party is complete without a cheesecake moment.”
Later in the evening, daughter Paris Hilton, 44, took over with a DJ set, shifting the party's tone and the menu. Following the late-night energy were Buffalo Wings and Monte Cristo Sandwiches — proof that Hilton believes a great party evolves with the night.

For Kathy, hosting is about more than décor and food. It’s about atmosphere which should be felt “the minute you walk in."
"I always do something around the door and then a big wreath and something pretty and festive as you walk in,” she added. Trees in every room, candles flickering, bartenders stationed throughout the house and carolers singing on the steps all help set the tone. She’s meticulous about seemingly small details — music volume, lighting and flow — but she insisted she enjoys the planning more than the party itself.
Once guests arrive, Hilton made it her mission to connect people. With around 300 attendees traveling in from places like London, New York and Dallas, she made a point to sit down with small groups, ensuring conversations go deeper than a quick holiday hello. “They’ve made the effort to come all this way,” she explained. “And I’m excited to know what’s going on and chat.”
That same thoughtfulness extends to her holiday traditions, which go beyond entertaining. The Hilton family supports the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Mission each year, quietly spending time together distributing gifts — no cameras, no spectacle. “That’s not what we do,” Hilton noted.
As the holidays wind down, Hilton looks ahead to a new year focused on being present, consistent and making time for the people she loves. But for now, she’s savoring her favorite season, cemented with glowing fireplaces, candles flickering and a house full.
